Re the article “Hungry Point Reserve open: Additional funding for new pathway” (Leader, March 13).
Mark Speakman’s announcement this week of funding to extend the Esplanade around Hungry Point is very welcome news!
As development pressure mounts in the area this will be a very welcome addition of greenspace for residents and visitors.
As a Trustee of the site I am very aware of the stunning views of Port Hacking which have been locked away from residents for decades.
Walkers will be amazed by both the panoramas of the Port and Gunnamatta bay and the Littoral Rainforest remnants that line the walkway route.
Sutherland Shire Council also deserve great credit for their support in developing the site as a public recreational asset.
They have assisted in opening the northern end of the site which is now a beautiful park with sweeping views.
I urge residents and visitors to the shire to come and enjoy our newest parklands and to watch as they progress to even greater things.
